About the CPS and how it's changing
This is an exciting time to join the Crown Prosecution Service. As our role expands, so too do the opportunities for our people.
Where we're coming from
Established in 1986, the CPS works at the heart of the Criminal Justice System, delivering justice and making communities safer. We decide whether there's enough evidence to take a case to court, and prosecute people charged with a criminal offence.
- In size alone, we are a formidable force:
• We are the biggest law firm in the country
• We are the biggest lawyer training organisation in the country.
• We prosecute around 5,500 cases every day.
These are all sources of pride to us, but not necessarily why you should build your career here.
Where we're going
The reason you should join us is because we're changing. Our influence as prosecutors is increasing. We're taking on new roles and building closer relationships within the community. Driving change in the criminal justice system. Working smarter, faster and harder to help build a fairer society.
We think that's something worth striving for – and we do everything we can to support the people whose drive, intellect and passion are helping to bring all this about. That's why the training, career development opportunities, benefits and flexible working hours we offer are second to none.
Add to that an environment of true diversity, in which we can all share and develop our strengths, and it is clear that we are becoming a world-class prosecution service. If you've always wanted a career that demands – and offers – that bit more, we hope you'll join us.
