Our history
Who are we?
GMAC-RFC was formed in the UK in 1998 and has grown to be the UK’s 10th largest mortgage lender* and leading Non-Conforming lender. In 2004, GMAC-RFC completed £6.34 billion in mortgage loans and in the past 12 months have won a variety of awards for its products and services. Its headquarters are in Bracknell, Berkshire where there are over 900 staff.
GMAC-RFC is a wholly owned subsidiary of ResCap (Residential Capital Corporation). ResCap is one of the worlds leading mortgage lenders and is the equivalent in size to the UK’s largest mortgage lender.
GMAC-RFC offer 'Mortgages for Everyone' from Mainstream, Buy to Let, Self-Certification and also for borrowers who have experienced credit difficulties. GMAC-RFC have a wide range of mortgage products to suit every need.

We want to offer our customers a wide range of innovative mortgages, and what enables us to do this is the way that we operate - we create and trade mortgage assets. Put simply, the mortgages that we create through our lending activities are then "traded" as either securitised bonds for investment or transferred as portfolio sales to other mortgage lenders.
What it means for us is that we can use any profits that we make quickly and invest them into our products and services. This may sound scary, but it isn't. Our customers' mortgage terms and conditions always remain the same as specified within the terms of our offer of mortgage and our customers are not adversely affected.

In Nov 2005 we repeated last year's success, winning the BEST INTERMEDIARY MORTGAGE LENDER category in the Your Mortgage Awards, once again confirming our growing reputation with mortgage brokers. This is a highly competitive sector, since the brokers' reputations depend on the lenders delivering the products and services that their clients demand and expect.
Financial Adviser Award
We have been presented with the prestigious 4-STAR award for our excellent service. This award is a great accolade and recognises the efforts made by the whole organisation over 2004 / 2005. Even more importantly, the award was voted for by our customers, the mortgage advisers.
Mortgage Strategy Award & Gold Standard Technology Award
Award for "Best Sub Prime Lender". Over 2,500 brokers took part in the voting and we were placed for more categories than any other lender - with nominations in the following areas: Self Cert Lender of the Year, Specialist Lender of the Year and Innovator of the Year. Mortgage Strategy Magazine is a very high profile trade publication and this is a fantastic achievement that re-enforces our position as the no. 1 non-conforming lender.
In Nov 2005 GMAC-RFC were awarded the Gold Standard Technology Award for it's online proposition and the service it provides to it's intermediaries.
