Fyfe Ireland is a medium sized (by Scottish standards at least) firm but has big firm experience, clients and ambitions, offering the personal service of a smaller practice with the expertise of a larger one.
In 1987, the Edinburgh-based firm became the first of a predicted wave of middle-tier mergers when it joined forces with Glasgow’s Bird Semple. By 1994, however, it had become clear that the marriage was not working and an amicable separation ensued.
Now solely based in Edinburgh, Fyfe Ireland has 11 partners and 31 other fee-earners. The firm’s largest single department is commercial property which brings in almost 40% of Fyfe Ireland revenue. It also has good reputation in corporate and commercial developing a specialism in acting for technology companies. The firm also advises a number of public sector and education clients and has a developed banking/finance PFI expertise.
Clients include a range of blue chip names, such as HBOS, Barclays, HSBC, Northern Rock and the Yorkshire Building Society. Other clients are drawn from a broad range of public and private sector (primarily owner-managed businesses and partnerships) backgrounds, with an emphasis on the education sector, IT companies, retailers and housebuilders, for whom the firm provides specialist conveyancing services. Fyfe Ireland also offers expertise in litigation (with a particular focus on construction), employment law and private client.
Despite its age, (the firm was formed in 1830), Fyfe Ireland is a progressive firm and prides itself on its positive approach, commitment, receptiveness to new ideas and providing a quality of service normally expected of a larger firm.
