A number of last minute changes to planned legislation are being made by the government ahead of the Queen's Speech on Wednesday.
According to the Financial Times, Gordon Brown may drop some of the draft legislation outlined earlier this year as he looks to focus on the recession and businesses in this year's speech.
This will mean that legislation that has been planned for months may be subjected to quick revisions, the FT warned.
It is possible that plans to increase flexible working rights and change conditions for benefits for the jobless may be among proposed bills that will no longer be considered by the government, the paper noted.
Furthermore, the news source added that such bills may be replaced by new plans to improve the regulation of banks and buoy lending to businesses and borrowers.
The government recently announced that it is to bring in changes to employment law that will mean migrant workers will be able to access 200,000 fewer jobs in the UK.
