Legal chief for Guardian News & Media (GNM) Nuala Cosgrove is to move to media regulator Ofcom, it has emerged.
She will join the body in the New Year after spending six years on the legal team for the newspaper group, reporting to Ofcom general counsel Polly Weitzman.
GNM is now set to find a replacement for Ms Cosgrove, who was appointed head of legal at the group last year and has previously worked for Davenport Lyons and Stephens Innocent - now known as Finers Stephens Innocent.
The announcement is the second recent move from by legal expert operating in the media industry.
Last month Jan Tomalin, controller of legal and compliance at Channel 4, announced she is to step down from her position and set up a legal consultancy.
She is leaving after 20 years at the television channel, stating that she is "very excited" about running her own legal practice.
