The UK's top 100 law firms saw their fee incomes increase in the second quarter of 2008, new Deloitte figures have revealed.
In news that may be of interest to those looking for legal jobs at UK firms, the figures from Deloitte's Quarterly Legal Sector show a 5.8 per cent jump in fee income compared to figures from the same quarter last year.
And income at the country's largest legal companies rose 11.1 per cent in the same quarter, a fact attributed to the international reach of these firms and the current strength of the euro and dollar.
However, the firm noted that the 5.8 per cent figure is the slowest rate of growth recorded since the report began.
Jeremy Black of Deloitte explained that the figures indicate a "growing disparity".
"While some firms are continuing to perform others are suffering a significant hit on their revenue growth due to the slowdown," he noted.
Legal firm Silver Shemmings recently noted that the legal industry is better placed than others to survive the credit crunch as claims activity is remaining high.
