Simmons & Simmons has been named most-improved gay-friendly employer by lesbian, gay and bisexual campaign group Stonewall.

The company ranked at number 31 in the group's Top 100 Employers 2009 list, making it the UK's most gay-friendly law firm.

Over 7,000 participants were questioned in the production of the list, which was topped by Lloyds TSB and also featured Pinsent Masons, Herbert Smith and Eversheds, which were placed 50th, 77th and 100th respectively.

Senior partner at Simmons & Simmons David Dickinson said the firm was "proud" to be recognised as a "supportive and inclusive workplace".

"[The position] is recognition of our hard work," he added, noting that the firm is committed to "further building upon [its] success".

Last month Simmons & Simmons was awarded the title of European Legal Advisor of the Year at the 2008 Funds Europe Awards.

The firm picked up the accolade for the third consecutive time.
