A new system has been put in place by one lawyer, with the aim of making feuding couples aware that it is possible to take the stress out of divorce when making the decision to split up.
Carol Grundell of DWF has launched a new approach, which involves couples settling out of court by using their lawyers to reach a mutual agreement.
Couples are encouraged to meet face-to-face in the collaborative system, rather than communicating by letters or phone calls exchanged by lawyers.
Ms Grundell explained that bitter divorces can leave a "lasting impact" on the couple and their family.
"The collaborative approach
makes for a less traumatic experience," she remarked, adding that "respect and understanding" can result from the meetings.
Manches' James Stewart recently stated that the first full week in January is the busiest for divorce lawyers, as many couples file for separation after the Christmas break.
