Background
gmk was founded in 1998 by Jon Garrett and Lynne McCarroll, both of whom are qualified solicitors and have worked in other central London recruitment companies. Between them they now have 15 years experience in legal recruitment.
The Business
gmk is a legal recruitment business specialising in the placement of lawyers at all levels, from newly qualified to partner, predominantly in private practice. Our main focus in on placing lawyers in London and the South East, though we also deal with positions in other major cities in the UK and Europe. We also cover the entire Asian market through Law Alliance, our associate office in Hong Kong.
We aim to provide a service of the utmost professionalism and integrity, ensuring that we listen to and respond to your needs. Our extensive range of contacts amongst partners, other lawyers, and human resources personnel, enables us to source as many positions as possible, to give you the candidate as much choice as possible. Our objective is to provide an individual service tailored to your own unique situation.
Our client base includes most of the UK's top law firms based in the City and elsewhere, and many of the most active American law firms based in London. In addition we deal with a broad range of smaller niche commercial practices.
Our Consultants
Jon Garrett
Jon is a founding director who moved from law to legal recruitment in 1994, after 5 years with a City law firm. Prior to setting up gmk Jon worked for two London legal recruitment companies. He specialises in senior and partner level appointments.
Lynne McCarroll
Lynne is a founding director who qualified with Herbert Smith in 1994 before moving into recruitment in 1995. Lynne handles advertising, marketing, and general management issues.
Deborah Adkins
Deborah joined gmk in April 2001 and was promoted to director in June 2005. Her legal career was spent with Pinsent Masons and CMS Cameron McKenna. Deborah places assistant solicitors and partners.
Jamima Rey
Jamima qualified as a solicitor in 2001, and then spent 3 years at Ashurst as a corporate solicitor. She joined gmk in June 2004 and now focuses on recruitment for US firms based in London.
Rebecca Ryan
Rebecca trained at Addleshaw Goddard and then spent 3 years as a solicitor at MyTravel Group plc and Memery Crystal. She joined gmk in January 2005 and focuses on placing solicitors of all levels in London.
Fiona Cossey
Fiona trained at Pinsent Masons qualifying in 2001. She then spent 3 years at Russell Jones & Walker as a media lawyer. Fiona joined gmk in February 2006 and is focusing on placing junior lawyers in London.
Lee Bladon
Lee set up the Manchester office of Laurence Simons successfully placing solicitors at all levels of seniority within many of the leading firms in the North of England before joining gmk in the summer of 2006 to focus predominantly on the London private practice market.
James Hughes-Martin
James previously worked as a paralegal in regional law firms before moving to London. Having joined gmk in 2006 he now concentrates on recruitment of lawyers in to the regions.
Poppy Niijar
After graduating in law, Poppy worked as a recruitment consultant for Crone Corkhill and Angela Mortimer specialising in contract placements. She joined gmk in January 2007 to focus on temporary placements in London, for both qualified lawyers and senior paralegals. |
