A multinational leader in FMCG and IT is looking for an experienced senior counsel with knowledge of corporate compliance programs and internal investigations to lead its Pan EU legal compliance and training program. You will be based in Luxembourg (EMEA office) and will report to the Vice President of Legal.

The Role
As lead Pan EU Compliance counsel, you will have several key roles. Working with the VP of EU Legal/Associate General Counsel as well as the US based compliance legal team, you will have overall ownership of the design and administration of company Pan EU legal compliance and training programs. This includes leading their annual risk assessment and compliance goal setting process; working with attorneys and business leaders throughout the organization to monitor, track, and help manage compliance and training goals; and coordinating with the company’s Risk Management, Internal Audit, HR, and Finance teams, both across Europe and in the US. You will also monitor, supervise, and independently conduct internal investigations of fraud allegations and other potential legal and regulatory issues. For this role you will need to be a team player and consensus builder with great people skills and a good sense of humour who can effectively and efficiently collaborate and build relationships with attorneys and business clients at all levels throughout the organization.

The Candidate
Candidates must be admitted to practice in EU and/or US with 5+ years of legal experience, including at least 3 years regulatory or compliance experience with corporations, law firms, or government agencies. The ideal candidate will have gained experience in a globally acclaimed law firm. Candidates must have gained a law degree from a leading university with at least the equivalent of a 2:1 honors degree (or equivalent) with first class honors preferred. Candidates with In-house experience at a technology or internet company are advantageous but not essential. Must have excellent communication skills with impeccable English skills (written and spoken) as well as demonstrated proficiency in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization. Must be a pragmatic individual with Hands-on project management experience, including the ability to manage a large number and variety of mission-critical projects, working independently and often in ambiguous environments. A candidate with additional European languages i.e. German and/or French is a plus. Familiarity with Internet, retail, software and/or media industries and the legal and regulatory environment in which they operate.
