Commercial IP Legal Counsel - London 3-5 yrs

A newly created opportunity for a Corporate Counsel to work for a global FMCG US business where you will support two highly experienced Senior Legal Counsels. The successful candidate will support the UK consumer business, which is constantly growing and developing cutting edge products. You will report to the team leader and will be responsible for advising on copyright and trademark, UK PR, Marketing and Advertising and standard vendor agreements, complex high value contracts and strategic transactions.

The Role
You will be responsible for providing commercial and advisory support to their UK consumer business with a crossover of workflow with their European legal team. In time you will develop a skills and knowledge base which will enable you to advise senior leadership on legal and strategic issues. As part of your role you will advise on business transactions ranging from standard vendor agreements to one-off, complex, high value and strategic transactions. The workload offers an interesting focus relating to UK PR, Marketing and Advertising (comparative advertising, product compliance, marketing guidelines, training etc). You will be responsible for advising on copyright and trademark infringement and to provide resolution of legal issues that arise in existing relationships. Proactive planning and advice to the business on regulatory issues impacting the UK business

The Candidate
Must be UK/EU Qualified (3-5 yrs PQE) with training from a leading UK or US Law Firm, its imperative that candidates must be top class academics (2.1 minimum and straight A's at A level). To be considered you will be innovative, pragmatic with a hands-on approach and enjoy developing strong client relationships. Candidates with strong commercial drafting experience, applicants with retail and/pharmaceutical experience would be advantageous. For this role you will need excellent teamwork and communication skills with the ability to work autonomously. Applications with an impressive corporate background, including IP and/or retail experience will be highly considered.
