Booker is no ordinary wholesaler. Our stores (or Business Centres as we refer to them), work mostly with local B2C customers, from pubs and restaurants, to caterers. Through the service and products we provide, we do our best to help them thrive. That means our stores have a positive impact in the towns and communities where they’re based. As Assistant Company Secretary, you’ll be at the heart of Booker, helping our business run like clockwork.

Day-to-day, you’ll help to provide a high quality company secretarial service. Your remit will be varied and range from producing the Annual Report and accounts, andmanaging the AGM process, to planning grants and maturities for the Group’s share schemes. We’ll also expect you to manage dividend planning, share capital issues, shareholder enquiries and our relationship with the Registrar. Accuracy will be crucial, as you’ll be checking share dealing code compliance, maintaining statutory records and handling all regulatory and statutory filings. In short, it’s a highly responsible role where you’ll support and deputise for the Company Secretary.

To join us, you must be a qualified Company Secretary and must have at least 5 years PQE– but not necessarily in Retail. Whatever your background, you’ll have a firm grasp of FTSE 100/250 company practice and detailed knowledge of regulatory, governance and statutory requirements. Ideally, your expertise will extend to employee share schemes and Blueprint software (or similar). If you’re also good with people and great in a team, we’d like to hear from you – even if you don’t live nearby.
