Legal Services – providing corporate wide support of contracting activities; policy development; litigation and disputes; intellectual property; insurance; data protection; freedom of information; and compliance matters.
Legal Services sits within the wider Finance and Legal Services division and is a busy and successful central team within the University, consisting of 9 specialist staff. The team deals with all legal and contractual matters within the University (other than HR) as well as data protection, FOI and insurance. The work the team does is always interesting, often demanding and unfailingly varied.
The Contracts Officer will work within the team to support the review, drafting and analysis of contracts within the University, with a particular focus on Research and Knowledge Exchange (RKE) matters. These include standard European and UK Research Council funder grants, contract research and studentships, as well as the contractual arrangements for a varied portfolio of knowledge exchange activity. Outside of the RKE work, you will assist the solicitors in the team with general commercial contracts (such as IT and general services agreements) and will play a key role in the support of the work of the team.
We are looking for someone with excellent experience of reviewing, drafting, negotiating and advising on a high volume of contracts, ideally gained in a Higher Education context with particular experience of University research and knowledge exchange.
For a successful candidate who demonstrably exceeds the criteria with regard to knowledge, qualifications and experience, there will be the opportunity to discuss a higher salary when the initial offer is made.
Closing date: 8th April
