McKinsey & Company, Inc. is a global management consulting firm founded in the United States in 1926, with over 100 offices in more than 50 countries. McKinsey's clients include more than half of the world's top 200 companies, as well as companies with the potential to reach the top. They also help a diverse range of government institutions with their management challenges.
An outstanding opportunity has now arisen for an excellent Italian lawyer to join McKinsey's international legal team. Reporting directly into the US based General Counsel, you will be based in either Geneva or Zurich and will be a member of the EMEA legal hub of the firm's international legal department with a particular focus on the Mediterranean countries, including Italy, Israel, Greece, Turkey as well as on Switzerland. You will be working closely together with the other legal department colleagues and with members of the business in relation to legal issues involving different parts of the EMEA region.
This is a highly visible and senior role within the company and the work will be extremely diverse in nature. You will provide legal advice and counsel to McKinsey's consultants and partners, in particular ensuring that contractual arrangements with clients, subcontractors and third parties are reviewed and negotiated effectively as well as solving engagement-related legal issues such as confidentiality, use of name, intellectual property and conflict of interests. You will also be expected to develop and interpret the firm's internal policies further, particularly regarding professional practices and staff.
All McKinsey's employees are expected to possess an outstanding academic history as well as a blue chip professional background. You are an Italian qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years' professional experience acquired at an internationally recognised law firm and/or leading corporation. You are an expert in the areas of commercial and/or corporate or antitrust law and ideally also have public sector experience, either by having spent time at a government body through a secondment or having advised government bodies. You are fluent in English and Italian, with the ability to draft and negotiate agreements in both these languages. Fluency in another European language such as German is advantageous. An excellent communicator, you will possess the gravitas and maturity along with the leadership skills necessary to succeed in this position. You enjoy working in a challenging and fast-paced environment and are a team player with the desire to influence others positively.
