Professional Support Lawyer – Corporate with ECM & M&A experience – Mid / Senior – Can be Flexible

Wanted: One ECM savvy, cerebrally stalwart corporate lawyer (or existing PSL). Up to date on company law and public and private corporate finance transactions. Must not terrify clients. Preferably one who actually likes clients, meetings & pitches. And who enjoys working as part of a team (you will be joining a great one). No need to be Sandy Toksvig but unlikely to suit a wallflower (PSLs are highly valued here & central to the transactional teams: respected, involved, consulted, key !). Inspired by the juxtaposition of a meaty role within a major firm but without the hideous hours (it is possible !). You can of course have hideous hours if this floats your boat – but this is not required. Can even be part-time / allow some home-working – if you are one hot potato. Ditto if you were a hot potato who's been out for a career break & ready to get back in. You could be a transactional in-house lawyer or from private practice – provided you have experience of M&A and ECM transactions and the regulatory framework applying to listed companies. You may or may not have prior PSL experience. What you will need is a finely honed brain with an ability to articulate yourself clearly and without hiding behind a curtain.

The Client, Team & Role

Our client is a major global heavyweight whose clients include many of the world's leading corporations and financial institutions, governments and governmental organizations.

The role is to be one of a team of PSLs within the Equity Capital Markets practice of the Corporate team. The partners in the team are acknowledged as leaders in their field and the PSL team itself is well established, close-knit and regarded as truly integral to the efficient functioning of the transactional team. The role is definitely client-facing and involves the usual responsibilities of producing precedents, research, internal and client briefing notes, training materials and pitch documentation as well as assisting in the delivery of client pitches and internal / external training.

The role could be at a senior or mid-level, with pay varying accordingly. There is a clear career path for PSLs within this firm with a definite pay banding for each bracket. Perhaps most importantly, there is considerable partner buy-in to the importance of the PSL role and value added by the team. You will need to be confident in managing the relationships with Corporate partners, other fee earners and the Corporate BD team as well as your own PSL colleagues.

To get the right person on board there is scope for agile working arrangements in terms of remote and part time working. If feel you have many but not all of the attributes above, I would be delighted to discuss the role with you to assess suitability.
