In House Legal Counsel – Oil & Gas, Maritime & Energy - Dubai
The company
Our client is one of the world’s largest ship and offshore classification society and the leading technical advisor to the global oil and gas industry. They are also a leading expert for the energy value chain including renewables and energy efficiency and one of the top three certification bodies in the world.
The role
An exciting opportunity now exists for a talented, commercially astute lawyer to join the MEA team in Dubai. Reporting to the Head of Group Legal - Middle East and India region, the Legal Counsel will be part of a team responsible for managing the provision of high quality legal services to the Group in the Region.
This position will work with all company divisions across the ME and India region with key accountabilities to include:
- Manage and increase risk awareness
- Negotiate with clients and draft high worth commercial agreements across all business areas including Oil & Gas, Energy, Maritime and Business Assurance.
- Lead corporate governance, controllership and compliance
- Manage external supporting law firms
- Handle dispute resolution & litigation
- Advise the company on statutory laws, regulations and judicial developments within the Middle East and India region
The successful candidate
- A qualified lawyer, excellent academics circa 3-5 years’ experience *
- Proven track record in commercial and corporate legal affairs, with experience either gained in a top tier firm or within a large commercial multinational organisation in the Oil & Gas / Energy sector
