Childcare Lawyer

Our client, a local authority in Bedfordshire is seeking a Locum Childcare Lawyer for a mid to long term assignment of 5 – 6 months and is required to start as soon as possible.

This position has arisen to cover whilst the council recruit permanently, although dependant upon instruction there may be the possibility of extension.

You will join a small and established team of lawyers and pick up a caseload of care proceedings matters under the PLO. You will also have ample opportunity to perform your own advocacy at a range of hearing types, therefore candidates who enjoy advocacy focussed roles are encouraged to apply.

Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors, Barristers or Legal Executives who have experience working directly for or on behalf of Local Authorities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about public law and be available to commit to the full period of the contract.

Attractively, this role is offered on a full time or part time basis. You will also be able to condense your hours into fewer days if you wish, working longer days as you see fit.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

• Conducting complex children cases on behalf of the council, including all required advocacy and pre proceedings work
• Advising the Adoption Panel
• Advise on issues before the council’s children committees

Our client offers a competitive rate of £30 - £35 per hour dependent upon experience.
