Property Paralegal / Licensed Conveyancer
The role:
To assist and support Richard Morris, Property Partner, in dealing with various aspects of his practice including general commercial and residential property work including freehold and leasehold acquisitions and disposals and landlord and tenant work. The successful candidate will need to have previous experience of working as a property paralegal. They must be able to work under pressure in order to ensure deals are conducted and closed efficiently. Attention to detail and providing clients with a speedy and efficient service are key.
Duties to include:
- Preparing completion statements
- Preparing lease statements
- Amending leases and contracts
- Using and amending simple form precedents
- Preparing transfers and carrying out pre-completion searches
- Ability to run smaller scale property transactions independently subject to appropriate supervision
- Processing money laundering documentation
- Researching aspects of the law
- Dealing with Land Registry Registration
- Organising SDLT forms
- Time recording
- Conducting Local Authority on-line searches
- General administrative and ad hoc duties
Previous experience
- Solid paralegal experience within a small to medium sized London firm, or large provincial firm
- In-depth property experience and knowledge
- Experience of Auction sale and purchases an advantage
Qualifications/Aptitudes
- LPC or ILEX qualified
- Excellent IT skills
- Must have a committed and confident approach
- Be bright, positive, patient, have meticulous attention to detail and be proactive
- Be able to deal with confidential information
- Have the ability to liaise at all levels
- Must take an active interest in the work
- Enjoy working within a small team
Salary
- c£35-40k
Normal working hours are: 9.30 am – 5.30pm, with one hour for lunch.
Additional hours may be required depending on the demands of the team.
