Exciting new in-house role for a commercial lawyer to make the move into a Legal Counsel role with a leading, global technology and manufacturing company, based in their offices in Edinburgh.
Role Profile:
- Drafting and negotiating a broad variety of commercial agreements including research, development, services, and licensing agreements;
- Providing legal advice and input on significant contractual matters;
- As part of a broader legal and IP team, assisting in the execution of strategies for the protection of IP;
- Conducting due diligence in support of licensing and intellectual property acquisitions;
- Providing litigation and third-party discovery support;
- Exposure to a broad range of corporate, commercial, employment, property and regulatory matters both within the UK and overseas (e.g. Data Protection);
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and the highest standards of corporate governance.
Candidate Requirements:
- A current practicing certificate to practice law in Scotland, or England &Wales;
- Substantial post qualification experience in private practice or in-house, ideally with experience of commercial contracts, IP, compliance or regulatory;
- Strong legal and analytical skills, adept at negotiating, with excellent commercial acumen;
- Strong academics;
- Demonstrable success at managing both a large workload, and internal and external relationships with clients and external advisors.
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Ideally, candidates will have experience in all aspects of UK, U.S. and foreign contract and intellectual property law- experience in the manufacturing, engineering, technology. semiconductor industry with a law firm or in-house would be of particular interest.
- Excellent analytic, legal drafting and oral and written communication skills.
