Our client is looking to recruit an In House Interim Counsel for a 12 months period to be based in Halifax or Edinburgh.

Our client is a major high street bank who is looking to recruit an In House Interim Counsel for a 12 months role.

Description

This is a role for a lawyer with excellent commercial experience to work within the Group Operations & Commercial team providing legal support in relation to major IT, outsourcing and commercial contracts and operational matters across the Group. The role could include

Acting as a source of professional expertise providing professional advice as a trusted advisor to stakeholders and assist with the development of policy and procedures

Providing Legal or Secretariat technical input to support delivery of projects

Building and maintaining internal network and relationships to provide appropriate professional advice to achieve the Group's objectives

Positively influencing others by demonstrating core values and behaviours and where appropriate, manage, develop and motivate colleagues to support a high performing team

Provide advice and guidance to business areas on Corporate Governance or Legal Risk Management using the relevant risk management policy framework

Managing self and, where appropriate, own team in the context of relevant risk policies and frameworks

Contributing to reporting and escalation of legal or governance issues within own / supported area, inputting to recommended solutions as required

Supporting agreed change projects to deliver continuous improvement.

Profile

This is a role for a lawyer with excellent commercial experience to work within the Group Operations & Commercial team providing legal support in relation to major IT, outsourcing and commercial contracts and operational matters across the Group.

This role requires a lawyer with excellent commercial experience to provide an authoritative and comprehensive legal service which meets the commercial and strategic needs of the business while protecting the interests of the Group. The role requires good influencing skills, commercial judgement and a pro-active approach and involves interaction with senior level executives as well as an ability to deal with colleagues across the Group at a variety of levels. Effective selection and management of external counsel is also important.
