English qualified Banking & Finance Lawyer / Suit solicitor with 3-5 years’ experience of high-value banking & finance work / British Virgin Islands (BVI)

This major offshore law firm is looking for an English qualified solicitor with a background in high-quality banking and finance work to join its British Virgin Islands office. You will be joining a small team that advises on the offshore aspects of a wide range of finance transactions so it will suit someone with broad experience or a specialist who is attracted by a more varied banking practice.  You can expect a great deal of client contact and full involvement in business development from the outset.  Outside of work, BVI offers an idyllic setting that couldn’t be more removed from City life.  You will need at least three years’ experience from the banking practice of a top City or equivalent law firm.

The Firm

Among the world’s leading offshore law firms, this multi-jurisdictional practice can offer lawyers an attractive diet of high-quality international work, advising institutions and onshore firms on the full range of offshore work. It routinely hires from the leading UK national, City and International law firms and it offers attractive tax-efficient City level salaries.  Culturally it is more relaxed than your average international law firm but its lawyers are no less driven or ambitious and the firm encourages client contact and relationship building from the outset.

About the British Virgin Islands

Type ‘Tortola’ or ‘British Virgin Islands’ into your search engine and you will quickly see why many people consider this to be the most picturesque region in the entire Caribbean.  Forest covered mountains run into idyllic beaches and clear waters that boast some of the world’s best diving, sailing and water sports. The pace of life outside of work is relaxed - ideal for someone seeking a complete change from life in the city.  Professionally, BVI makes a compelling case too.  Developing later than some of the other offshore centres it positioned itself as a jurisdiction of choice for the emerging markets, a prescient move that has led to it being dominant in now vital markets such as Asia.  All of the biggest firms are present here and they offer lawyers the chance to do interesting work on high-value matters as part of (mostly) small teams of City escapees. The low-tax salaries are excellent and the cost of living compares favourably.  To find out more please contact us for a copy of our Guide to Living and Working in the BVI.
