I am currently recruiting a Team Leader to join the Costs Negotiation team of a Top 40 Law Firm based at their Sheffield City Centre office. With over 15 UK offices, the firm are one of the most reputable national, commercial law firms in the Country.

The Role

The Cost Team Leader will be responsible for recovery of costs for the firm and its clients. This will include preparation of Bills of Costs for detailed assessment, claims for costs against the Legal Services Commission, claims and breakdowns of costs to clients and other types of costs claims.

The Cost Team Leader will hold all line management responsibility for a team of Law Cost Draftsmen. The Team Leader will take ownership of all general queries, file reviews, bill checking, performance reviews, quality control and collation of information as necessitated by the firm relating to the recovery of its costs from opponents or clients.

The Team Leader will also be required to assist other members of the Costs Management Team with technical support and quality control as necessitated by the position and as agreed with the Costs Manager.

The Team Leader will be accountable for bills through the court process to include negotiations with opponents and advocacy at Detailed Assessment Hearings if necessary and as agreed with the Costs Manager. The Team Leader will be required to attend [conferences with Counsel/court/tribunal] and represent the firm and client as required.

Education, Qualification and Vocational Training

The successful candidate will possess a minimum of 5 GCSEs/or equivalent grades C or above (this must includes Maths and English). A Law Costs Drafting qualification ALCD (to qualify during employment if not already).

Relevant Experience

The successful candidate will have proven experience as a law cost draftsman’s deputy team leader or associated position. Dealing with IT systems, time recording procedures and a strong level of inter personal skills.
