Commercial Litigation/Dispute Resolution Lawyer – 2-4 years’ PQE – Guernsey

This first-class offshore law firm is looking for a mid-level Associate to join its Legal 500 recommended Dispute Resolution practice in Guernsey. The role offers exposure to a wide range of contentious work spanning sectors such as financial services, trusts, and investment funds as well as mainstream commercial litigation and insolvency.  As part of a small team, you can expect plenty of responsibility and client contact making this perfect for someone looking to move out of the more hierarchical environment of a City practice.

The Firm

Among the world’s leading offshore law firms, this multi-jurisdictional practice can offer lawyers an attractive diet of high-quality international work, advising institutions and onshore firms on the full range of offshore work. It routinely hires from the leading UK national, City and International law firms and it offers attractive tax-efficient City level salaries.  Culturally it is more relaxed than your average international law firm but its lawyers are no less driven or ambitious and the firm encourages client contact and relationship building from the outset.

The Channel Islands

Located within an hour of London, Jersey and Guernsey are world-class financial centres that offer City calibre work combined with a coastal lifestyle that is worlds apart.  They each house offices of almost every major offshore practice, fielding teams of largely ex-City/International firm lawyers advising on high-value and complex matters. The firms encourage a commercial, client focused approach and most will find that the levels of involvement and responsibility compare favourably with a big onshore outfit.

Opportunities for career progression right through to Partnership are excellent.  Outside of the office, a good work/life balance allows ample time to enjoy the attractions whether it is coastal walks or a local restaurant, a round of golf or learning to surf.  It is an evocative mix of professional challenge and personal fulfilment that many lawyers find hard to walk away from but should you decide to move on, experience here will be marketable around the world.  To find out more please contact us for a copy of our Guide to Living and Working in the Channel Islands.
