Our FTSE listed multinational engineering client is a leading provider of complex products and services to clients worldwide. It is at the forefront of new technology development and innovation, and it is has become one of the largest and most successful companies in its field.
As In-house IT Counsel you will be responsible for addressing IT legal issues and promoting IP awareness across our client group, with a particular focus on its IT function and software focused businesses. This will include matters related to the company's IT and digital strategy; minimising legal risk; implementing policies and procedures; negotiating and drafting complex contractual terms and supporting on commercial and procurement matters.
Based at its head office in Surrey, as part of a dedicated team of 10, the In-house IT Counsel will be responsible for a broad brush of complex IT and Software matters. This includes Cloud based SaaS, IaaS and PaaS offering, large scale and complex IT projects, open source software licensing, R&D and IT procurement.
The position of In-house IT Counsel is open to qualified Solicitors or Barristers with circa 4 years' relevant PQE. This should include issues related to the procurement and use of IT systems and services; experience in managing and advising on complex software licensing matters and on large scale and complex IT projects; knowledge of open source software licenses and the implications of its use in proprietary products; and knowledge of data/privacy law. Experience of cloud based SaaS, IaaS and PaaS offerings is essential.
