Junior to mid-level commercial role - opportunity for development and progression
This is an international automotive company. The second largest manufacturer of Capital Goods in the world. Amongst many other activities, the business supplies automotive and plant to heavy industry.
The key area is commercial contracts, in particular advising, drafting and negotiating supply agreements, large tenders and public tenders. The candidate will work on distribution contracts, and will ideally have working knowledge of competition law. Other areas which this role will train someone in are as follows:
- commercial litigation and product liability. You will gain the ability to determine strategy and provide clear instructions and manage external lawyers effectively
- corporate law, company secretarial and compliance in areas such as consumer credit, data protection, corruption and money laundering
- You may also come across employment law, real estate, financial services and health and safety
NB: no knowledge of these non-core areas is required. You will be developed in these areas. This will be an excellent grounding for any in house lawyer.
The successful candidate will be likely to be a UK qualified lawyer, with more than two years post qualification experience either in house or in private practice. A strong grounding in commercial contracts is essential for any applicant.
The individual must be able to provide practical advice, often to tight time-frames and have sufficient gravitas to be relied upon by senior managers from whom they will receive instructions on a regular basis.
