Our client is a multi-office practice with expertise encompassing all aspects of civil, commercial and criminal law. With a number of departments ranked in the upper tiers of the Legal 500 they endeavour to provide first class advice and representation, meeting and exceeding client needs. They offer a supportive working environment and structured career progression for staff and are currently undergoing a period of expansion, requiring additional Criminal Duty Solicitors for their office in Colchester.

The Role
We are now seeking dedicated Criminal Duty Solicitors to join our clients’ thriving practice in Colchester. With positions available immediately, the successful Crime Duty Solicitor will become part of a well-regarded team, attending and advising clients at police stations and courts throughout the area, to include out of hours. In addition, the ideal duty Solicitor will manage cases from arrest to trial including advocacy where necessary and ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal aid requirements.

The Candidate
You must be a qualified Solicitor with at least 12 months’ PQE and additional Criminal Duty accreditation.
You must have excellent technical and client care skills.
You will have strong advocacy skills with the ability to manage case up to and including trial.
You will be IT literate with experience in the use of case management systems.
You will be personable and able to build strong working relationships with clients and professionals alike.
You will have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
You will be able to commence as soon as possible, assigning duty slots from the next allocations.
