OUR CLIENT
Our client represents authors and creators worldwide, with a membership comprising hundreds of collective management organisations across the world. They are now seeking to appoint a Head of Legal and Public Affairs to sit within their Paris offices. This is a unique opportunity to be to play a leading part in the shaping and defending copyright in an ever-changing and challenging context.
THE ROLE
Reporting directly into the Director General, and managing a small team, the role will cover a range of legal issues in the area of copyright and, in particular, the collective management of rights. As a result, responsibilities will involve both legal and policy related tasks ranging from the drafting of contract for third parties, managing and advising on international litigation issues to consolidating and developing cooperation between members. You will liaise and work with the relevant international organisations and sister companies, as well as prepare submissions on pending and proposed legislation in the area of copyright.
PROFILE SOUGHT
The ideal candidate will have at least 12 years of post qualified experience, an excellent knowledge of international copyright law with solid experience in collective rights management, as well as and strong leadership and communication skills. You will be acquainted with the processes of international organisations serving the defense of copyright. A near native level of English is required, as well as the capacity to travel on a regular basis. The successful candidate will be responsive, capable of working to tight deadlines, and ideally benefit from management experience. Your ease in building relationships and communicating effectively will serve in carrying the voice of the organisation and serve the protection of copyright on a worldwide level.
