Planning Solicitor - An exciting opportunity for an accomplished Planning Solicitor looking for part-time / flexible hours.

JOB TITLE: Planning Solicitor

PQE REQUIRED: 5+

LOCATION: Surrey

SALARY: Excellent + Benefits

THE ROLE:

This leading South East firm is looking to appoint a Senior Planning Solicitor and requires a technically strong, personable and ambitious lawyer, looking to pursue a career in town planning law in the long term with one of the top real estate practices in the South East outside London. The firm's planning and environment team is listed as a leading practice by Chambers UK and The Legal 500, and individual members are recognised by all of the major legal directories. The work will be varied and will include (but not limited to): planning due diligence on corporate mergers and acquisitions - for buyers and sellers; permitted development; planning applications and appeals; drafting and negotiating planning obligations for a broad range of developments including a new secure mental health hospital, student housing, mixed use development, industrial and residential developments. The team and firm has excellent links with and work closely with other professional advisers including chartered town planners, heritage planners, architects, structural engineers, highways and traffic engineers, noise consultancies and hydrologists, contaminated land specialists etc.

THE CANDIDATE:

The successful Planning Solicitor should have an enthusiasm for a broad diet of planning and highways work. An appetite for business development will be a definite advantage. Successful candidates are also likely to be strong team players with good inter-personal skills, to have strong academics and high quality experience - typically with a City or leading national/regional practice, or a major local planning authority - and to possess excellent communication and negotiation skills. First-class support and learning and development opportunities are provided. The firm expects that there is currently 2-3 days of work available from existing clients and contacts and so is happy to consider a part-time Planning Lawyer or someone working on a flexible basis with the view to growing the caseload.

THE FIRM:

Independently recognised as one of the UK's leading national law firms, this successful firm has extremely high standards in everything they do. Continually expanding, they envisage further long term sustainable and profitable growth as they expand further and continue to attract new talent across all practice areas.
