Our client, a constituent of the FTSE 100 index is a leading defence and aerospace business. Their revenue is in excess of £17bn and it uses in-house expertise to design and manufacture fixed wing aircraft for their customers around the world, as well as offering associated training solutions and support services.

Following a reorganisation around the requirements of the business, and with future sustainability in mind, our client seeks to recruit a commercial and/or corporate solicitor to work as In-house legal counsel. The post holder will be part of a first class, collaborative and friendly team and will receive training and development in the industry, whilst being responsible for providing specialist legal advice and support.

The position of In-house Legal Counsel, in the Manchester area will see you support our clients' revenue generating plans across Europe and beyond, advising on a wide range of issues in a fast-paced environment. This team operates within divisions and smaller management teams with the potential to advise upon projects worth up to £1.5bn. You will be expected to provide proactive, high quality, business-focused legal advice and solutions in a timely manner whilst understanding the commercial, political and economic issues affecting the business.

This role of In-house Legal Counsel is open to 3 - 6 years' PQE UK qualified solicitors who are looking for a challenging and interesting opportunity. You will need to have appropriate leading law firm and/or in-house experience as well as sound knowledge of, and experience of dealing with, relevant areas of the law. Candidates with expertise in corporate, commercial and projects are of particular interest. However, of most importance is resourcefulness and strength of character. You must be able to stand on your own two feet and build influential relationships across the business.
