Senior Lawyer – Regeneration, Planning, Property and Contracts
3 Month Temporary Contract (Extendable)
£28 Hourly Rate LTD.
My client is a highly reputable Local Authority in West London. They are currently looking for a Senior Lawyer to join them on an interim basis. The initial contract will run for 3 months; however, it is highly likely this will be extended.
To provide high level and proactive expert legal advice to the Council, its members and officers and to provide expert legal advice on all matters relating to:
• Regeneration, Planning & Property
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
We are looking for the successful candidate to provide high level specialist legal advice to the council, its Cabinet, Committee Members and senior officers and other external clients on all issues relating to Planning, the Environment, Property, Procurement, and Contractual matters.
You will be responsible for advising on and drafting documentation in connection with complex regeneration and other property related matters.
You will represent the Council at any relevant tribunals or inquires.
You will draft complex contractual documentation and other types of agreement to advise on the development of commercial ventures by the Council.
You will deal with complex individual casework and conduct litigation arising in the area of responsibility, undertaking advocacy as may be required.
Skills and Background:
The successful candidate will be:
A qualified solicitor or barrister
Track record of achievement at a management level in a similarly large and complex organisation including:
Well developed understanding of procurement and contract management and property and planning
Comprehensive knowledge of the law affecting local government and its trends in the UK and EU context.
Experience of providing concise legal advice to a members of a Council / Board
Ability to manage people, performance and budgets
Ability to appear as an advocate
