Sole In-house Legal Counsel (Maternity Cover)

UK-based subsidiary of a major multinational oil company is seeking Sole In-house Legal Counsel for a maternity cover period of 7-8 months beginning in January 2017. This exciting opportunity will suit an experienced Corporate/Commercial Lawyer fluent both in English and Russian.
Being a Sole Counsel and reporting to the Company Director you will be responsible for:
- Negotiating and drafting long-term bunker fuel supply agreements, dealing with a range of contracts, including issues arising out of General Terms & Conditions, agency, service agreements;
- Advising on various legal issues arising at day-to-day business functions of the Company, including general queries on Immigration Law;
- Employment – supporting members of the team and the Company management to ensure compliance and assist with interpretation of employment legislation;
- Developing, drafting and briefing the employees and the Management on the Company on Internal Regulations, Policies and Procedures;
- Liaising with external legal advisers regarding legal issues requiring highly specialized professional experience;
- Credit Risk assessment;
- Corporate Governance and compliance issues, including liaison with foreign Parent Company;
- Dispute Resolution - analysis and resolution of claims (experience with litigation and arbitration).
Person Specification:
- The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor of 3-6 years PQE with substantial experience at a senior level, preferably with some experience in Oil & Gas sector, particularly in bunker fuel trading (this is not a pre-requisite).
- You will have previous in-house experience;
- You will have demonstrated ability in negotiating and drafting complex corporate transactions, working with key senior stakeholders;
- Broad legal experience across a wide range of commercial issues with good contract knowledge;
- You must be able to explain things in laymen’s terms and interact with members of professionals from different fields of expertise;
- You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, both in English and Russian;
- You must be able to prioritise and deal with urgent conflicting deadlines.
