Reporting to - Partners in the Securities & Derivatives Group
Location: Based at Ashurst, Broadwalk House office in London
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:30 - 5:30, however you will be required to work such hours as are necessary to carry out your duties

We are looking for a junior lawyer with some structured products experience. Failing that, experience in derivatives and/or debt capital markets or other areas of Finance may be sufficient at junior levels, as we will provide training.
The focus of the role is structured products. We have a market-leading structured products team, advising most of the main banks in this area. Structured products is part of a team which includes derivatives, so there will be some cross over with the broader Derivatives & Structured Product (DSP) Group. Finally, DSP itself, is part of the larger Securities & Derivatives Group (SDG), which includes debt capital markets and structured finance – so there will be opportunities for work in those areas as well.
You would typically act on all elements of a structured products deal from instruction, through to closing and post-closing. Your specific areas of responsibility will initially be to produce initial drafts of agreements, draft and negotiate structured product documents and ensuring a smooth process to transaction close.
You would also be expected to manage projects that have been assigned to you and liaise closely with colleagues, clients, counterparties and other advisers. You would be expected to work with minimal supervision and be confident to take the lead with client related matters. You would be working as part of a committed and inspired friendly team that enjoys its work and considers itself a leader in its field of practice. All members of the team have frequent client contact.
Main Tasks:
- Drafting of legal documents and agreements;
- Review of legal documents and agreements
- Contributing to department know-how;
- Advising clients and preparing formal legal opinions;
- Matter completion and post closing work;
- Post qualification experience in international finance transactions of the types referred to above, preferably structured products, with a reputable international law firm.
- Good organisational skills and experience in transaction management.
