A multi-office practice in Essex require the assistance of a Private Client Lawyer for a period of twelve months to cover a period of maternity leave. The role is anticipated to start mid-November.
Successful candidates will be expected to undertake the following:
- Taking instructions in relation to drafting Wills for clients and all that this entails.
- Providing Inheritance Tax advice.
- Providing general advice in relation to care home fees and protecting assets.
- Taking instructions in relation to probate matters dealing with application for Grant of Probate on either a fixed fee basis or dealing with entire administration of estate and all that this entails.
- Making Court of Protection applications.
- Preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney, acting as certificate provider where necessary and registering with Office of Public Guardian.
- Registering existing Enduring Powers of Attorney with Office of the Public Guardian.
- Dealing with assets and transfers of property where necessary and registering any restrictions required in relation to trusts.
- Severing the joint tenancy of properties where required and registering restriction.
- Administering discretionary trusts where partners appointed as trustees (this includes paying rent, making regular payments, paying care home fees, purchasing items for beneficiaries or organising holidays as and when required). Investing and withdrawing funds as and when required.
Due to the nature of the assignment successful candidates are likely to have upwards of three years’ PQE and be able to work autonomously without supervision.
