A highly prestigious international Law Firm currently has an excellent opportunity for an Accountant to join their team. The Accountant will work closely with the Firm's Finance Department and Asia Accounting team to provide daily accounting support to the Beijing office.

The Accountant will work closely with the Firm's Finance Department and the Hong Kong Accounting team to provide daily accounting support to the Beijing office. This includes responsibility for ensuring that on a day to day basis all tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner to the highest standard and in accordance with all regulatory and statutory requirements. The Accountant will handle the Accounts/Finance Department functions, including but not limited to monthly reporting; tax filing (incl. auditing), local book keeping; preparing bills and the cash requirements of the office, and the preparation of the office payroll including payroll released in other jurisdictions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for daily routines (billing, payments, receipts, journal entries, etc.).
  • Playing a liaison role between the partners, secretaries and the accounts team as required.
  • Ensuring compliance with any local rules and regulations.
  • Providing orientation to new employees to ensure the Firm's policies and procedures are complied with.
  • Monitoring receivable status and preparing outstanding bill summaries when required
  • Answering enquiries from partners, secretaries and global finance team.
  • Monitoring the cash flow and preparing cash forecasts for cash funding from headquarters.
  • Reviewing financials and preparing annual budget for Management's review.
  • Performing monthly closing including expense estimates and reconciliation of bank and other ledger accounts.
  • Liaising with bank and local CPA firm to ensure compliance with PRC Accounting & Tax Rules.
  • Preparing revenue reports and reviewing the work of local CPA firm for local tax filings (i.e. VAT, IIT, FEIT, Annual Audit, Tax Verification); ensuring regulatory requirements are met with accuracy.
  • Working with external payroll consultants and local CPA firm on preparation of the monthly payroll.

Applicants will ideally have relevant experience in a similar position within a Law Firm or professional service environment and be highly organised, innovative and have a strong eye for detail. Strong written and spoken English and Mandarin is essential and the Accountant must demonstrate excellent communication skills being able to interact professionally with people at all levels.
