Solicitor – Aviation/ PI - 3-5 yr PQE - London

£ Competitive plus excellent benefits package

An excellent opportunity has come up to join the specialist Aviation Practice of the PI department of a highly successful, national Legal 100 firm.

Personal Injury
Personal injury can have a dramatic and sometimes life changing impact for the person affected and for those who are close to them. The personal injury teams at the firm don’t just deal with compensation claims. They also work with our clients and their families to ensure all of their rehabilitation needs are met. It’s a unique, bespoke approach that really makes a difference to people whose lives have been turned upside down by injury.

The Aviation Practice
The Aviation Practice acts on behalf of victims and the families of those killed in aviation accidents around the world. This specialised area of claimant PI litigation often involves complex technological and product liability and private international law issues.

The Team
The team handles a wide variety of cases against airlines, aircraft manufacturers and tour operators. Current cases range from those involving small light aircraft and helicopters to group actions involving large airliners. Many of the cases involve high value multi-million pound litigation.

Claims often involve claims in negligence, product liability, breach of international conventions and breach of contract. Foreign laws are often applicable and some litigation occurs in overseas jurisdictions, working with our network of overseas agents.

Experience or an understanding of these areas would be beneficial but experience of aviation specific matters is not required as training and supervision will be provided. Experience of quantifying high value PI claims including fatal accident or illness claims under English law is essential.

This is litigation of the most challenging nature and regularly involves pushing the boundaries of existing law.

The Role

This is a really exciting opportunity to work on high profile, high value cases within our highly regarded Aviation team in our leading PI Department.

To be successful in these roles you must;
•    Ideally (not essential), have around 3 -5 years post-qualified experience in PI in a Claimant setting with an aim to specialise in Aviation work. However, Solicitors currently practising in a Defendant firm will be considered.
•    Have a desire to support with the business development of the department, able to build successful relationships with support groups, charities and medical professionals. Existing contacts in the London region would be an advantage.
•    Be able to operate independently and as part of a team to deliver the best outcomes for our clients and develop other team members.
•    Have excellent client care and inter-personal skills, operating with integrity and showing empathy and intuition.
•    Foreign language skills are also an advantage.
