Mental Health Solicitor with panel membership required within specialist department in Berkshire.

Our client is a multi-office practice with expertise encompassing all aspects of civil, commercial and criminal law. With a number of departments ranked in the upper tiers of the Legal 500 they endeavour to provide first class advice and representation, meeting and exceeding client needs. They offer a supportive working environment and structured career progression for staff and are currently undergoing a period of expansion, requiring a Mental Health Panel Member for their office in Reading.

The Role
A rare opportunity has now arisen for a talented Mental Health Solicitor, to join a specialist department on a full time, permanent basis. A member of the Law Society Mental Health Accreditation Scheme, the successful Solicitor will manage a complex and challenging caseload to include: representing clients detained under civil and criminal sections of the Mental Health Act; conducting advocacy at Hospital Managers Hearings and Tribunals; advising on aftercare; examining and presenting medical and forensic evidence and; advising on Nearest Relative powers and displacement applications.

In addition the successful Mental Health Solicitor, will immerse themselves within business development, networking and marketing initiatives and build and maintain client and professional relationships within the region. 

The Candidate
You must be a Solicitor with a minimum of three years’ PQE gained within Mental Health;
You will have excellent communication and client care skills;
You must be a member of the Law Society Mental Health Accreditation Scheme;
You will have your own workload and be able to work with minimal supervision;
You will have strong IT skills and particular proficiency using Case Management Systems;
You will work well under pressure, meeting tight deadlines;
You will have a flair for business development, marketing and networking.
