We are currently working with the Moscow office of a leading international law firm, ranked in the top tier of Chambers and Legal 500. They are looking for an Associate to join their well-established and very busy Banking & Finance team.

Unsurprisingly, the Moscow market has been flat since the sanctions were brought in, but that doesn't mean dead... necessarily… whilst some offices have been forced to close, some have remained busy with a steady stream of work flow, many have continued only lightly scathed.

You will be part of a dynamic team led by a mix of UK qualified and Russian Qualified Partners and Counsel. The role will cover a broad range of banking & finance work, the bulk of which will be general banking, asset and project finance but there will also be leverage, trade and commodity finance. The work itself will be in English however, Russian will be highly valued as it will allow you to speak to colleagues and clients with ease. The role is available due to a high influx of work over the recent months, as such, they are open to candidates between NQ and 4PQE.

Besides the excellent quality of work, other benefits of working in Moscow include:

  • Top salaries - The remuneration packages that are on offer in Moscow tend to be really good. When you factor in the 13% flat rate tax, the net remuneration in Moscow tends to be amongst the highest in the world.
  • The opportunity to move to a large international firm (and in some instances take a step up).
  • You will generally get more diverse experience, with some firms not having separate departments, rather teams that work on a variety of transactional matters;
  • You will be on a smaller team which will mean that you will be offered greater responsibility and greater client and Partner exposure.

The combination of the above points means that even a relatively small stint of a couple of years in Moscow will leave your CV in a much more robust shape than a similar period spent in one of the more mainstream legal jurisdictions.

In order to make a successful application you will have to have gained relevant Banking & Finance experience from a leading City or international UK law firm and be a UK qualified Lawyer or be due to qualify in 2016.
