BANKING SOLICITOR – MANCHESTER (IN-HOUSE)

Banking Solicitor – The in-house team of this leading international bank is looking for a banking solicitor to join their growing corporate / commercial team which funds a vast range of transactions in an equally broad range of sectors. It should be noted that this recruitment exercise forms part of a wider initiative to create a larger, more active in-house team, capable of liaising with relationship managers on numerous transactions with a varying deal value.

• Reports to: Head of Legal
• Previous Experience: Ideal candidates must be able to demonstrate a proven banking background with excellent drafting ability, understanding of the key mechanics of banking transactions and negotiating skills. No set PQE level is advertised. Our client is interested in hearing from candidates at all levels, though a minimum would probably be 1-2 PQE. There is no maximum PQE limit.

THE IN-HOUSE TEAM – A BLEND OF SKILLS

This is an in-house team of a highly regarded, international bank. The legal team is currently undergoing a period of considerable growth to complement the increased deal volume as the corporate banking arm of the organisation continues to grow.

You will be expected to have a strong banking background with sound knowledge of facility letters, banking covenants as well as ancillary documentation. The bank does have its own internal precedent knowledge management system. However, drafting skills are a must, as the team also advises on bespoke deals requiring the production of tailor-made documentation, when needed.

The in-house department is supported by a team of banking paralegals. Therefore, previous management or team leading skills would be useful but are certainly not critical.

THE ROLE IN MORE DETAIL

This is a truly varied banking role which will draw on all your skills as a drafter, negotiator and problem-solver whilst also developing your management and mentoring abilities. The banking team deals with all sorts of clients from sole traders to larger companies, focusing mainly on the SME market.
