Head of Governance

Individual with governance experience required to join a leading local authority on a temporary basis.

Your new company
This is a progressive and forward thinking organisation who are situation at the heart of the area they represent. They are a large multicultural metropolitan borough council, which is made up of 6 of 6 towns with over 10,000 employees providing a comprehensive range of services. An exciting opportunity has arisen in their Democratic Services Department to become Head of Governance.

Your new role
You will be responsible for the Democratic Services including committee services, member services and adherence to the councils constitution. You'll be dealing with the overall management of the election service, arranging and fulfilling the legal aspects of conducting General and Local elections. You will oversee Data Protection across the council including liaising with the Data Commissioner and responding to formal complaints and investigations. It is also expected that you will provide advice and support regarding governance arrangement keeping the council legal and the process open / transparent.

What you'll need to succeed
Your previous experience will lead to your success. You'll have a strong governance background with knowledge of local government committee structures and member decision processes. You'll also have management experience with full understanding of working with elected members.
