Here at British Steel we require a Commercial Lawyer to join our Business Services Function and support the Head of Legal.

You will support the Head of Legal in providing legal advice across a full range of commercial legal issues and corporate support work.
This will include the following activities:
- Providing legal advice relevant to strategic management decision-making
- Negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial transactions
- Reviewing and/or preparing a wide range of contractual documentation, including sale and purchase agreements, IP licenses, confidentiality agreements and similar
- Managing external advisers where appropriate, ensuring service level and value for money
- Advising on changes in relevant law and regulation and providing training to support business activities.
- Supporting compliance activity
- Having an awareness of the Company’s policy framework and how it is implemented (in some cases, it will be the responsibility of the Commercial Lawyer to monitor and uphold that framework)
The role will be primarily located at the offices of our integrated steelworks in Scunthorpe but there may be some flexibility to work from our other locations.

What we need to know about you
This is an exciting opportunity for appropriately qualified professional who is able to practice law in England and Wales. You need to have sufficient experience in core areas of company and commercial law.
Previous in-house experience is an advantage but not essential for committed candidates who are willing to learn. You will also ideally have experience in working across a variety of jurisdictions and practice areas.
Communication is critical to the success of this role and you need to be someone who is capable of operating at all levels of the organization working with colleagues of all disciplines. The ability to travel within the United Kingdom is essential.
