Legal Counsel

Our client an aerospace and defence business has an exciting opportunity for an Employment Lawyer. The role is to cover a 12 month maternity leave and will be based in West Sussex. You will need to be available to start November/December.

This role will be supporting all of the businesses in the UK, advertising on a wide range of employment matters both contentious and non-contentious. You will be required to ensure advice is in accordance with the business policies and procedures.

Reporting to the General Counsel - UK Corporate Legal Services, you will work very closely with HR and provide support to more junior employment lawyer within the team.

As part of a small in house team you will be required to engage directly with the businesses. This will include some travel to the other UK sites to provide advice on matter or to present some internal training.

Key responsibilities:
*Supporting HR with reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures
*Managing precedent bank of employee documents on HR database
*Providing ad hoc advice to HR on a wide range of employment issues
*Preparing and presenting training materials
*Running own caseload of claims
*Leading negotiation strategies for settlement
*Advocacy at preliminary hearings
*M&A activity
*Restructuring projects
*Commercial contracts

The successful candidate will be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a minimum of 2 years PQE*. You will have considerable employment experience with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience of stakeholder management and supervising more junior team members would be highly desirable.
