Head of Legal & Business Affairs, TV

Exceptional opportunity to join a high profile Entertainment Group and take ownership of the legal and business affairs  function of their TV division.

The COMPANY

Our client is a really well known player in the media industry; representing leading talent, as well as promoting, producing and exploiting entertainment brands worldwide.

The ROLE

This position will report into and work closely with the Group COO. The principal part of the role will be running their Television scripted, comedy, entertainment and factual slate of content of all stage from conception through to delivery, whilst also supporting the distribution of that content.

Key Responsibilities –

• Advise on all legal and contractual matters from commercial negotiations to finalising contracts, covering TV production arrangements, talent management and distribution agreements, and related marketing and PR activities.
• Manage, guide and supervise the business affairs team (including responsibility for

professional development and training needs).

• Oversee legal and regulatory compliance (including employment, H&S, DPA) and asset management such as trademark and rights portfolio.
• Risk management and dispute resolution (including instruction and management of external lawyers and costs as required).

The CANDIDATE

You will be a qualified solicitor with a wealth of relevant legal experience in a private practice and / or in-house in a media and entertainment environment.

Experience of TV production agreements is essential and scripted experience would be advantageous.

You’ll have previously managed legal personnel and be comfortable managing a busy, deadline driven workload.

You’ll also have a strong understanding of production processes and the ability to present to the senior management team and represent the group externally.
