This is an opportunity to join a growing Birmingham team at an exciting time. The team have recently grown at the senior end and as part of their business plan, they would be interested in bringing in a mid level solicitor at Associate / Senior Associate level.

Client Details

A large full service Birmingham law firm.

Description

Are you currently working at a smaller / regional law firm and have always wanted to make the step up to a larger firm?

Perhaps you have built up a decent client base and referral system at a relatively junior level of PQE but are questioning whether you want to progress through to Partnership at your current firm?

Our client thinks that this type of person could fit well into their team. Not just somebody who can run with commercial litigation matters but is also capable of generating a bit of a network themselves. They are not necessarily after an Associate who can bring in a big, 6-figure following. Rather, they are interested in somebody who has had to work hard at their current firm to establish loyalty with clients. Somebody who has got involved with networking, business development and marketing and now the clients come to you as their first point of call.

What's in it for you? Well this is an opportunity in a large national law firm, so you'd be stepping into a firm with a lot of infrastructure, support and an internal network/clients for you to tap into too.

The current team act for large SMEs and national organisations on a range of disputes from general commercial litigation such as shareholder disputes through to large scale multi-million pound disputes. This is quality work and the Partners are developing a very impressive pipeline which you would be able to work on. They compete with the large Birmingham players for a lot of their work.

There's career prospects here but Partnership is probably still a way off. You might be more likely to hit Partnership at your current smaller firm but the long term prize here will be larger. There is a clear career path and the successful person would be joining a very ambitious team that intends to promote from within.

What you will also be given is autonomy: so if this is something you are used to, then this will continue here despite the size of the firm. The Partners have a flexible approach and where appropriate home working is encouraged. The team work very hard but they also encourage a proper work/life balance.

Profile

The team like the idea of attracting somebody from a smaller, regional firm who is looking to step up to a bigger Birmingham player. You'll be a confident litigator who is excellent with clients. Ideally you will have built up a decent network of clients who come to you with their contentious work. The ideal person would be able to "pay for themselves" from day one but the team will obviously feed you a lot of work too from their connections and clients. You'll be kept very busy from the Partners but you'll also be expected to be able to keep yourself busy too.

Alternatively you could be working at a large, national or international firm and are looking to work as part of a smaller litigation team. Again, you'll need to be able to demonstrate a track record of generating some work.

Job Offer

Competitive depending on the person and the strength of their network. Long term career prospects at a large Birmingham player.
