Profile:
In Event Legal Services, the Legal Counsel provides legal advice and services to UEFA and its subsidiaries in relation to a broad range of legal matters, with a particular focus on ticketing and hospitality, as well as access management and accreditations related to all UEFA competitions and events.
Purpose:
Main activities:
- Drafting and negotiating ticketing and hospitality-related agreements, terms and conditions, FAQs, policies, guidelines and communications;
- Monitoring compliance with all applicable laws, including, in particular, consumer protection and personal data protection laws;Cooperating with internal stakeholders in the development of appropriate standards, guidelines and processes necessitating implementation of the ticketing and hospitality strategies in line with any applicable laws;
- Managing and cooperating with external stakeholders (counsels, authorities, organisations, etc.) on ticketing and hospitality compliance and enforcement matters;
- Monitoring, managing and administering ticketing enforcement cases, including submitting cease and desist letters, replying to complaints, cooperating with the relevant authorities in relation to unauthorised ticket sales and promotions;
- Monitoring compliance and organising onsite ticketing enforcement activities aimed at ensuring compliance with the terms and conditions and agreements; cooperating with the authorities and external counsels in this respect;
- Working proactively with the UEFA communications division with regard to informing the public about ticketing and hospitality-related actions, including preparing press releases, responses to related media queries and social media communications;
- Managing the drafting and negotiation of access management-related agreements, terms and conditions, policies and communications;
- Cooperating with internal clients in defining access management standards, strategies and processes;
- Proactively supporting and assisting with contract management and administration across the Event Legal Services unit;
- Assisting with the provision of training to other members of UEFA, including other members of the unit;
- Supporting UEFA member associations, if and when required, in any ticketing, hospitality, accreditation and access management legal issues.
Main responsibilities:
- Ensuring that event-related documentation is produced and managed correctly by drafting legally sound agreements and terms and conditions in a timely manner and ensuring that template documents are kept up to date and implemented correctly;
- Ensuring that all legal documents are drafted in accordance with best practice standards, relevant internal policies and procedures, and all applicable laws;
- Liaising and maintaining good relationships with the other services and third parties involved in ticketing, and hospitality, as well as access management and accreditation-related domains;
- Ensuring that the unit is involved in strategic decisions relating to ticketing, hospitality, access management and accreditation matters;
- Conducting result-orientated discussions/negotiations with any relevant third parties and authorities.
Requirements:
Experience required:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience as a lawyer/legal counsel with an international organisation or law firm.
- Experience of negotiating and drafting legal documents in an international (sports organisation) environment.
- Good knowledge and experience of events, ideally in the field of sports.
Education:
- Qualified lawyer. Bar exam or international post-graduate title a major asset
