Our client based in East London requires a Principle Litigation (Housing) Lawyer for an immediate start.
This Local Authority is seeking a principle lawyer to conduct and manage a wide range of legal case work and advice in respect of housing matters.
Your role will include:
*Providing complex legal advice to the Local Authority and lead a new team.
*Leading on the insourcing of currently externalized work and establishing the new team with a target date of April 2017 for full operation.
*Undertaking broader litigation matters and advising on public law issues.
The ideal candidate would have the following qualities:
*Strong litigation experience and skills (but our view is that this is not the same as PQE)
*The ability to establish and deliver a new client focused team to two major clients.
*Local Government Experience
*Significant recent experience in all aspects of housing law for a local authority
*Experience of advising Senior Officers and Members
*Experience of advising Housing Committees or Housing Cabinet Members
*Involvement in Policy work/Strategy
*Understanding of Welfare Reform Act and changes and impact this will bring to Local Authorities
