Our client, a high profiled regional company needs to hire a contracts and procurement lawyer to support the Head of Contracts and Procurement to ensure contract compliance, risk mitigation and contract support.
Responsibility for drafting and negotiating contracts and reviewing third party terms and conditions (where applicable) providing advice and guidance to Business Units.
Provision of advice and support to the business on contracts together with ancillary contract documentation such as performance securities, parent company guarantees, bonds, purchase orders etc.
Responsible for maintaining the contracts and bonds register and ensuring contracts are approved via the contract approvals process.
Preparation and review of contracts to include services agreements, IT services agreements, consultancy and construction agreements that are required.
Successful delivery of procurement contracts through the correct governance (PO/Contract Approval Process) and delivering contracts & documentation that comply with laws and market practice and implement best practice risk allocation.
Pre-tender, advising on the formulation of the contracts to publish. While the tenders are running, advising on any contractual and/or commercial questions. Post tender, advising on the final form of contract. Escalation of any material issues to the Head of Contracts.
Demonstration of understanding of the role and potential contractual exposure. Understand questions, make recommendations, prepare contract opinions and formal contract responses, where required.
Bachelor, honours or masters degree from an international university
Graduate of an accredited law school
Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience as a contracts lawyer in a common law jurisdiction (UK, USA or Australia) or with an international law firm in the ME region.
Understanding of procurement and procurement process.
Excellent English language skills. Arabic communication skills (written and spoken) an added benefit.
Work experience or secondment at a government or quasi-government entity an added benefit
Strong academics, self-motivation to work independently, willingness to challenge assumptions, strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
