Leading LNG Shipping Company with operations around the world is seeking a highly experienced energy with extensive experience to joins its small legal team in London. Continued expansion has resulted in the need for this hire which offers a unique opportunity in this sector where you will be highly visible to the board.. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will be required to undertake some overseas travel and work directly senior management.
Key legal agreements that will require legal support will include:
* FSRUs
* Shipping transactions
* Major projects;
* Financing arrangements
Key Results Guidelines
1. Business/Financial
* Assist General Counsel with Legal budget, by controlling external legal spend.
* Assist General Counsel in ensuring the company complies with legal, regulatory and all other compliance requirements.
* Assist General Counsel in managing risk in the business

2. Management
* Responsible for managing external legal resource to ensure compliance with Legal budget where possible.
* Responsible for legal matters on major projects including FSRU projects, Shipping, and M&A projects and financing matters. This will require the ability to manage external lawyers and company team members and consultants and will require both a legal and commercial perspective.
* Manage information flow to GC and other Executives in a timely manner.

3. Leadership & People Development
* Will be required to work with existing senior legal counsel, secondees and less experienced staff
* Provide internal training seminars to other lawyers and non-lawyers within the company where necessary.

4. Relationships
* As the Legal department is a service provider to the rest of the Group, it is essential that the candidate be able to develop strong relationships with and understand the needs of those departments.

5. Growth & Innovation
* Assist the General Counsel in implementing new systems where necessary to ensure Legal depth is as efficient as possible
* Ensure internal and external legal resource is used effectively and efficiently to reduce costs.

6. Conduct/Values
* Promote the company's business ethics including its anti-bribery and corruption policy and assist with embedding the culture of ABC compliance.
Indicative Knowledge, Experience & Competencies

* Experience: 8+ years working experience in either a law firm or in house (but preferably a combination of both) with expertise in one or more of following areas: Shipping, Ship Finance and Capital Markets, Energy (specifically LNG), General Corporate and M&A;
* Proven Project Management skills to get things done;
* Excellent communication skills - written and verbal in English;
* Willingness to work on all matters required of the Legal dept;
