Client Details
My Client is seeking a Legal Exec/Paralegal to join in Feb 2017
Description
- To carry out any legal and support duties for the team under the direction and supervision of the Legal Services Manager or another Solicitor in the team.
- To advise on and prepare documents for commercial property freehold and leasehold transactions on behalf of the council. To assist the solicitors in more complex transactions.
- To process and advise on the Council's residential property portfolio, including Right to Buy matters, answering leaseholder enquiries and enquiries from external solicitors re sales and purchases.
- To advise on and prepare documents for commercial contracts and agreements for various council departments. To assist the solicitors in major and more complex contracts.
- To prepare and serve statutory notices for property and planning matters.
- To assist with the litigation work of the team as and when required, e.g.: preparing bundles, preparing court documents, attending court to assist as necessary.
- Routine residential/commercial conveyance, purchase, sale of freehold and leasehold land including Industrial estate leases, Adoption of open spaces and preparation of license agreements
- To prepare Briefs to Council as required.
- To carry out legal research as necessary.
- To participate in meetings and carry out preparatory work for meetings, e.g.: Property Management Group.
- To attend committee meetings if required.
- To work as part of the legal team and assist them as necessary
- To prepare cases for the Magistrates and County Courts and to undertake routine advocacy at such courts.
To assist with the implementation of procedures and systems, to develop and enhance the role of the legal team in the provision of its services.
Profile
Looking for someone who is a fully qualified Legal Executive (Cilex Level 6) or working towards this qualification. Applications would also be considered from candidates with legal qualifications (LLB, GDL, LPC etc.) if they can evidence the rest of the requirements.
Knowledge and Experience
Strong IT skills and competent in the use of Microsoft Office
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
Ability to interpret clients' instructions in a legal context
Demonstration of ability to meet client deadlines
Good analytical skills
Ability to professionally represent and support the legal team to senior management and clients
Ability to deal with the courts and their hierarchy, including attending court
Job Offer
Maternity contract - 12month FTC
Salary bracket dependent on experience.
