Our Client is looking for a non-contentious construction solicitor to join their expanding in house legal team, based in Surrey. In addition to the non-contentious focus of this role, there will also be duties managing contentious matters, as well as assisting with some corporate governance.

Description

Duties with this roles will include:

  • Advising on contract strategy and contract terms, in particular architect's appointments, sub-consultancy agreements, collateral warranties, novation agreements, variations and contract amendments as well as working with business colleagues to ensure contract terms comply with company policy and, where there are exceptions, to obtain requisite internal approvals.

  • Advising on legal/contractual issues during project execution, including Training non-legal staff, Advising on contract interpretation, advising on claims management and liaison with PI insurers and advising on other disputes.

  • Reporting to management, as required on contract terms and status of negotiations, disputes and insurance claims as well as other issues with legal implications.

    • Profile

    The successful candidate is likely to be a qualified lawyer (qualified in England) with at least 5 years' PQE / Non-contentious experience in construction industry (either in private practice or more preferably in house). Our client is looking for a lawyer who is robust and confident, with a commercial and pragmatic approach.

    Its is desirable that candidates have experience of advising architects' or other consultancy practices and candidates should be able to provide demonstrable evidence of having experience of working with construction industry standard form contracts, including NEC, JCT and RIBA.
