Description
As a key member of the Property Team in Group Legal and Compliance (GLC) this role will partner closely with Group Property to provide property advice, guidance and solutions and execute transactions in a commercially focussed and understandable way, and to ensure that all strategic, legal, operational and transactional goals are met in accordance with the needs of the business and objectives of GLC.
- To understand the operational and commercial imperatives with regards to the clients portfolio and develop relationships with key stakeholders in Group Property and other functions.
- To provide commercially focussed and consistently high quality advice on property law
- To identify and manage legal risk, and to manage and influence stakeholders and strategy.
- To ensure all transactions are executed correctly and within agreed timescales
- To ensure that transactions are compliant with Group Property and Group Taxation instructions and policies
- To identify and work with Group Property to manage risks e.g. title issues, breaches of covenants, liability for contamination.
- To deliver transactions within aggressive timescales
- To liaise with other GLC teams to provide specialist advice as necessary.
- Supporting the Assistant GC in reporting and MI requirements to key stakeholders and GC as required. Taking a proactive role in identifying valuable ways to utilise MI to drive business change and reduce risk.
- To outsource legal work as appropriate, robustly managing quality and cost.
To complete transactions across a diverse operational property portfolio in accordance with agreed time lines and to an agreed risk profile. The Property Team is expected to deal with c100 lease renewals; 60 short term licences; 25 sales and 15 acquisitions per annum.
Accountable to Assistant GC Commercial Transactions.
Profile
- Minimum of 2-4 years post qualification experience gained within a business with a large property portfolio, or as a real estate associate in a law firm.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders at a senior level and deliver favourable outcomes
- Detailed knowledge of legal risks and issues across a diverse portfolio
